Not long ago, Microsoft has hinted towards the availability of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 on MSDN if not before the public beta. I wanted to find out if this was the case and who better to ask than the MSDN Concierge – open 24 hours, talk about great service.

Long, as I know the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will be released in second half year of 2007 and we have not got definitely release date.
3:33:18 PM Bob
You may get detail information until TechEd 2007 in Sep 2007. The more details about Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will be released in TechEd 2007

I have heard there will be a public beta for SP1. Do you know when will that be available?
3:33:59 PM Bob
Let me check it. One minute please.
3:37:50 PM Bob
Long, the beta version is only available internally and there is not public download currently. Even in Connect website, there is not a download.

Do you know how SP1 will affect developers or end users?
3:38:45 PM Bob

Bob has left this session!
Surprisingly, Bob makes references to a “second half of 2007” release date – although not definite, as well the list of fixes included as confirmed by APCMag last week. What’s even more interesting is that Bob reconfirms the TechEd SEA session on SP1 I made note of yesterday, which is starting to sound like the great SP1 unveiling. Thanks Bob!
I don’t get it. Maybe it come out of my language skills 🙂
Look at the Bob’s response: 3:37:50 PM Bob

There is no logic in this.
@Mike: I think what he means is that when the beta is available, you can get it at Connect (http://connect.microsoft.com).
I wonder what bob says about LOLCODE….
… I love it how you find more ways to find more info
Your definitely living up to the site name with this one. =-D
Bob conveniently left out the truth. Its not only avalable internally but also for a select group of external testers, a group thats probably in a lot of heat right now due to the leaks, but existing none the less. However he may have just left that out because its not really relevant to you if your not part of that exclusive group.
What do you reckon Long, will we see a final version of Dreamscene before SP1?
Or any kind of ‘extra’ for that matter. Has nearly been 7 weeks since you last banged the drum on this. Crack on.
Lets wait and watch, exciting times ahead again?
Compared to the customer service chat transcripts that one is used to reading up on the net, this one turned out to be fairly un-entertaining. Don’t tell me that Microsoft has finally got its customer service outsourcing right!
But, I agree that the SP! might be the most successful piece of free yet commercial software ever.
