mac’s are for Video editing picture editing video game design such as car models… music (car sounds engine noises) VERY expensive games… best thing ever to come out of apple is there Iphone iPods and even there no great shake as i could get the same thing as an Ipod for half the price twice the quality. only reason ipods are so expensive is that silver plated back plate on them XD they weigh a ton…. have not gotten a chance to try out the Ipod touch or much of the Iphone…. i do like the iphone tho i was messing around with on at the Rogers store in the Oshawa center.
Windows depends on the program’s Video editing picture editing game design (all game design) more programs yes windows has viruses but umm hate to tell u but mac’s do too. there just less common cuz nobody needs to break somthing thats already down the tubes.

i really do love the linux OS… i recommend you download a linux Live CD from http://www.ubuntu.com just to test it thats what i use… i can still save stuff. n when im done useing linux and want to play video games i’ll restart take the dvd out n load windows. i could just install it but im not into the hole duel boot thing i have done it before i had windows vista windows XP and ubuntu linux on my computer it gets confusing when ur trying to mod games and stuff
but let me get to the point for linux
BEST for running servers as it doesnt take as much as windows OS or MAC (i dont know of any servers on mac)
im sure every OS is good at video editing sound editing etc. depending on the program’s you’ll pay for i do have to say apple is the leading computer’s for most hollywood movie producers but everyone hollywood movie producer has at least one PC

AWESOME video grafix u can throw some hela lot of hard drive space and memory into thoes things and you know what ummm i think they cost about the same as the most expensive mac laptops and if u custom build it (via online) unlike the macs were u get 3 or 2 options…. u can customize EVERYTHING color… screen type DVD rom types hard drives… memory…. hell u can even add on a big high def flat panel TV gaming mouses everything… that will cost a little more obv… but whats worth it… buying a computer that cant run anything more than quicktime n buying expensive programs that are like 200 bucks that i could download for my PC for free… legit…

The reason they use Macs is simply because they need no level of expertise whatsoever to create South Park. The Macs are simply end-user workstations, which were also entirely subsidized by Apple for the mere reason that in the future people like you would refer to South Park as some shining example of Macdom. It’s an advertising campaign, and you’re their free mouth robot. South Park is easily the LEAST technically challenging of all major CG animation projects, so it’s no wonder they hired high school dropouts who “learned” their software in (also subsidized by Apple) middle school, goofing off between tests.

Also, did you know that South Park isn’t rendered on Macs, but on illustrious AMD-powered Linux computers?

Windows machines ARE renderfarms, compared to Macs.

So South Park wouldn’t even be POSSIBLE if it were rendered on Macs, Macintyre. They would never finish an episode in time, and Macs themselves will NOT form a render farm like the AMD systems.

So when you stated that they were using Final Cut Pro and Maya, you missed ALL the other applications they use, and on top of all that there is one key app which is cross-platform and makes the entire thing possible: Maya.

I am a Maya professional as well, only in arch/viz and not entertainment. Did you know that Autodesk hasn’t even developed a 64-bit version of Maya for the Mac? And did you know that it’s Apple’s fault that they couldn’t settle on coding soon enough to allow Autodesk to build this version? And on top of THAT, Autodesk doesn’t even care about the Mac version, because Macs still make up less than 10% of the CG industry!

Get your facts straight before trying to present us with BS information.

Hah haa! You are just now learning what kind of hardware is in a computer? Right when Apple decided to use INTEL hardware, just like Windows PC’s have used the entire time?

How is this any indication of Macs superiority, when in fact they both use the same hardware now? And how would you still negate the fact that Intel creates inferior hardware anyway? You obviously haven’t “learned” anything at all about hardware. Back to Basic Computer Courses for you, son.

I have learned more about all hardware and software since I have started to use Macs at home and work, than I have the first 20 years using a PC. My advice: put the joystick down, grow up and move on now before you become embarrassed later. The company I work for wouldn’t pay me to use an inferior computer; productivity is unmatched. Unfortunately, it is not clear what the above illustration is trying to say, just like half the comments from PC users.
