  1. (S)He runs all that on the same old box? Seems he made a smart purchase back then! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. yeah. same box all the way till vista – when you got a new monitor. windows runs on more old hardware than one would think! ๐Ÿ˜›

  3. Nice attempt at a comic! What tools did you use?

It’s funny how so many people complain that they’re not going to be forking out the cash to Microsoft’s newest available OS at that time and then in turn an upgrade becomes inevitable (say for Windows ME which was their ‘Millenium bug’!)

  4. @_sahirs: Not true. The box turned from beige to silver! ๐Ÿ˜€

    @Anthony: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  5. lol, yeah that is SOO true. its weird how windows has that affect on people. as much as you dont think you need it you ned up with it eventually.

  7. Really cool work Long! that’s really really good for your first attempt!
btw, Darren is right. you’ve put Windows ME image in place of XP and XP image in place of Vista.

    Awesome work though ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Hi there. Good work!
I wanted to explain Raj and Darren that the joke is the character sees the O.S. it is installed and tells that he doesn’n need THE NEXT ONE. So pay attention and you will notice that that happens in every drawing. In the first one he is looking at a MS-DOS screen, in the next one a W95 screen and so on.
So it is not wrong. In fact, the joke consists in the perception of that.

I’m sorry for my poor english.

    Keep going, buddy!

  9. Nice one. I didn’t get the joke at first, I had to read it twice. The “Okay, you really didn’t need Windows ME” is funny. Maybe the character needs a face, with a facial expression that says “Pfff, I don’t need Windows {NextVersion}”.

  10. Heh, love it. I’ve always been an eye roller when MS comes out with a new OS whose value is at first dubious and costs $99 to upgrade. But when I got really tired of my mother complaining about Win98, I went out and bought her WinXP Home for X-mas. After that, the complaints stopped because the crashes and reboots stopped. Maybe not always, but Windows upgrades can be worth the money.

In the case of Vista, the jury is still out for me, but damn I want Aero and ReadyBoost/Drive :-).

  11. NO ENTIENDO UN CARAJO, ES QUE NO SE INGLES, NO COMPRENDING, NO SPEAK INGLISH, TODA UNA MIERDA

  12. A/to #mikibastar,

Muy inteligente por tu parte…Si no lo entiendes, es tu problema, no el de la tira cรณmica / Very smart comment… if you don’t understand the language, is your problem, not the comic.

  14. Love the ME bit, its like the comic has 2 punchlines!
I would love to see this turn into a series. =-)

  15. Well, personally I will use Windows 2000 on my main box unitl MS stops supporting it and some critical hole is published. After that, I will upgrade to Windows XP. Hopefully by time Windows XP’s support runs out, Cedega supports most of the games for Linux & most of the “recent” games by then have native port.

The only thing I have liked about Windows XP when compared to 2k is the remote desktop. There’s many things that I hate about XP though (most being annoyning default settings. Granted I need to change them only once, I still hate it).

  16. It’s partly true, but I really didn’t need XP or Vista. Jumped to Linux from Windows 2k. So yea, I really don’t need any Windows, and neither do you!
