@Palli

"The idea is very nice but I suspect it could generate an echoing loop while trying to speak while listening to speech."

That actually can happen - To combat that via two key commands (i.e. "Computer - Stop") and by using a Bluetooth headset for the voice input while in the car.

@Long Zheng

Thanks for the write up link!

Actually Palli, you'd find speech recognition in Vista exceptionally accurate when set up right.

The problem with his demo was, the microphone volume was so high, whatever he said became just a loud noise. So all the high-pitched sounds got cutoff, therefore the recognizer could not recognize what words he was saying. You can see this when he shows the screen, and you see the volumes bar going all the way to the top. It is optimally at the middle, where you can get a clear sound.

I certainly hope it will use better speech technology than the recent Microsoft demonstration which ended horrifyingly :D

Ambient sound my ass. Think how this system would handle noisy cars or noisy passengers. In fact, how can it hear when I tell it to stop while it's reading me something? Wouldn't it then stop everytime it would read 'stop' in a text? :) The idea is very nice but I suspect it could generate an echoing loop while trying to speak while listening to speech.
